Gulf Games 9: Ben Baldanza

Pensacola Beach, Florida
February 21 – 24, 2002

Well, just back from GG in Pensacola and as usual a HUGE THANK YOU goes to Greg, Tim,Vicki and everyone else who helped to pull this off. As before, this was a great weekend filled with good games, better people, and most of all just loads of fun. Highlights for me were:
* Finally learning to play Von Kap Bis Cairo correctly, thanks to Ted
* Introducing Was Sticht to Rob Wood and seeing him take a copy to buy before our game was over! Have fun playing with your dad, Rob.
* Hearing about Blokus for the first time and playing it. Thanks, Ward.
* Getting to play with with so many great people.
* Playing Crokinole competitively for the first time and loving it, despite playing like ****!
* Helping to host the “Dream Game” questions in a live format with Stven Carlberg. Reading the answers made that tallying well worth it!
* Hearing that almost everyone else has the same kind praise for Funkenschlag as I do.
* Watching the great kids getting older, smarter, and better looking every time.
By the way, this location was the best of the bunch so far I think. The game room was large and well lit, there were good restaurants nearby, the beach was great (at least from a bird’s eye view), and the hotel itself had nice rooms and a nice breakfast buffet.
Thanks to everyone for a great time!!!
