Before too much time passes, I would like to thank everyone for helping with the preparation of the game room, including putting up decorations, getting and setting up food, and with the removing of the decorations on Sunday. It was truly amazing and SO HELPFUL to me.
I tend to sleep in on Sunday, to catch up on a little bit of sleep, because we usually take down decorations after the prize awarding. Was I surprised when I came in the room around 11:30 and everything was down!!! This was a VERY HAPPY surprise!!! I can’t thank everyone enough for all of the ‘can I help’ questions. Thank you also to everyone who brought plastic containers for the holding of the food. I read Frank Hamrick‘s question about the quantity of M&M’s that were consumed. I, when I catch up on a little more sleep, will post these numbers, along with a few more. You will be amazed at how much we consume between Wednesday night and Sunday morning.
A special thank-you to Gail and Kim. Just about every time I started refilling the food table, one of them came up to help…and they went to the grocery store with me to pick up the items we needed. Thank you to several other of the ladies, Sus-Toni-Sandi-Theresa-Derk🙂 and a lot more, for the help with everything on the food table. If I forgot to mention a name, please don’t think I wasn’t appreciative……I had SO MUCH help that I couldn’t remember all of the names. The guys also helped with bringing in the tremendous amounts of items from the grocery stores and taking out the garbage…makes me wonder if they do it at home so voluntarily, too 🙂
But a special THANK-YOU goes to a little one who reminded me in a very polite way that we needed more grapes and put gum out on all of the tables. She even went to the grocery store with Gail and me to help buy a few supplies. She was VERY helpful when we were deciding which drinks to pick up for the ‘last of the food items’. She would tell us that the other children either were or were not drinking a particular brand. David and Theresa…you have a true gem in Alison. She is ALWAYS polite and extremely helpful………for those of you who did not hear the story, Philip Bradshaw (our contact at the hotel) told me that Alison told him of some water that was on the floor in the ladies restroom (she was concerned that someone would slip on it and fall) and she also told him he “might want to put a wet floor sign at the entrance” so that people coming in would know the floor was wet because of the rain. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING that a 7-year old would even be thinking such thoughts, let alone tell someone about it!!! THANK YOU again, Alison.
And again, thank you to everyone who helped…
