Editor’s Note: Attending his first Gulf Games, Jeff Buckey of the Kitchen Table Gamers sent me this personal note. I thought it perfectly summed up what we are trying to accomplish with Gulf Games. With Jeff’s permission, I have reprinted it here.
I’d also like to thank you for making us feel so “at home” at Gulf Games. From the moment we walked in the door of the gaming room to the time we checked out on Sunday we felt like part of a huge family. That’s very important to me since Jennifer is usually quite shy when meeting people for he first time, but the overwhelming welcoming attittude of the ” Gulf Gamers” made even her feel right at home. I can honestly say even after just a few minutes in the game room (starting with our first game of Citadels) I felt like you and I had known each other for years. Jennifer likes to play games, almost as much as I do, but during the event she really surprised me! She spent all of her free time in the gaming room playing games (and winning). I expected to be down there every waking moment myself but I never expected her to be…it was a nice surprise to see her enjoying the games as much as I did.
The experience was wonderful for both of us and it is something I will never forget. It is one of the nicest groups of people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, and I’m really thankful for the chance to be a part of it. We’ve both come away from the event with some great memories and a great group of new friends. You can bet that we’ll be coming to Gulf Games get togethers for a long time to come.
